(Re) new to Paganism

Years ago, I started studying the pagan beliefs then decided to buy into the "socially acceptable" religions in a bid to fit in. It didn't work. Since then, I've discovered I can't really bring myself to believe the way many people do and have peace within myself. I've found organized religion (read Christian dogma) to be a straitjacket and am trying to return to the leanings of my heart. Unfortunately, all my contacts for help and guidance have been lost and I'm adrift right now. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated so far as where to begin in reacquainting myself with the older beliefs...anything would be appreciated including suggestions for reading materials or people to contact for help with questions or instruction. I'm earnestly searching but have lost my way and remember very little of what I walked away from because I'd buried it so deep and tried to forget it. I now want it back and need help finding my way.

  welcome to the group! you've been searching for spiritual enlightenment which many of us do our etire lives though we are often bombarded with different views from other religious groups that only confuses and bewilders us...well now you can follow your true path...I am a solitary witch as are many of us in this group...it is kind of quiet board these days though...but you will find some very useful information...nice to have you join!!

  I'm in the UK, so it's relatively easy to contact the national Pagan Federation and find out who's organising local meet-ups or moots wherever I happen to be living. Since I've moved around a lot that's been really useful for me - a chance to get together socially with other people and exchange ideas, but without the pressure of joining a coven.
  
  Is there a similar group in the US who could put you in touch with some local contacts?

This is a group for people that are shy about meeting others that have the same beliefs that they have. This group will talk about the challenges in the pagan community as well as learning about new members, and beliefs simular to your own.
