Prednisone Belly

I just wanted to tell everyone on prednisone that you CAN blame a good portion of your belly on it. Even if your appetite is not out of control on the dose you are on.
After 2 years of use and being on a low dose for a good portion of it- I have been off for 2 months. I have just noticed the big round bloat has gone!!!!
I am thrilled!

Yes, see my post on the main RA site. I have been warning people about this for years. However, I am wondering why my belly is still not gone? Could it be the stretched skin from when i was so fat? I have heard of moon face, and my cousin has one from 56 years on prednisone, but this is new. -

I'm starting to think my excess belly is stretched skin too. I no longer have that "bloat" but for all the crunches I do and the exercise 3 x per week my belly is disproportionate to the rest of my body. I had 3 kids a long time ago but this has always been a real problem for me. I can grab a huge handful of fat? skin?

People with a chronic illness such as RA need to be as healthy as they can possibly stand it. That means exercising, mental health, and eating right. This is one tough combination! This is a group for us to get ourselves on track with eating normal portions and making healthy choices, but it's also a place to vent if you fall of the wagon. By venting, you may learn you have a pattern and with the support of this group, can create new ways to help yourself instead of reaching for food.
