I have had a cyst for 2 years now. I first found out about it when i was pregnant with my first daughter and after she was born, i was told that it went away. Then i found out when i became pregnant again that it was still there and it became bigger. When my second daughter was born she was a c-section the doctor wanted to remove my whole ovary and i said "no". I went back to the doctor he sent me to get an ultrasound and the guy who did the ultrasound he didnt want to let me go until the doctor said was ok. Many people have been telling me that i may have ovarian Cancer but i wont know for sure until i go back to the doctor to see what he wants to do. The ultrasound guy said that the cyst has fluid in it but there are also solid spots in the cyst. And i just want to know if any one can tell me if it is most likely i do have ovarian cancer? I know that there are any real profession answers but i would like to hear anything that anyone can tell me.

From what I understand, most cysts are exactly that--cysts. I had a cyst on my left ovary that grew very large and had an emerency surgery to remove it along with my left ovary. The original pathology showed the cyst to be mainly liquid-filled (no cancer), and the doc said taking the ovary would be enough treatment, but because of the size of the cyst, I should have a hysterectomy when I felt I was done having kids. But more extensive testing of the cyst showed cancer was present in my case. So it never hurts to check into it more. You probably don't have cancer since I have known at least 5 other people off the top of my head that have had a cyst on an ovary before, and none of them had cancer--check it out for your own peace of mind.

the same thing is kind of happening to me. the cyst keeps on getting bigger and for some reason the doctor that ended up doing my c-section with my second daughter was really bent on removing my ovary with the cyst. it is also on my left side and i want to have more kids so i dont want to go through the process and not be able to have anymore kids. do u know how the whole removing of the cyst thing works.

In my case, the doc had to remove the ovary with the cyst. I didn't want a hysterectomy at all either, since I wanted to have more children yet too. But I was OK with losing the one ovary--a person can still get pregnant with just one ovary.

My cyst was very quick-growing, from nothing at my annual pap in April to over 8lbs and the bigger than a football by September--so a 4-5 month growth time. So I never had a choice in removing the cyst or how to go about it--I went to the walk-in clinic, was sent to the ER, and then admitted to the hospital for surgery with in a few hour time span.

How big is your cyst?? I know they can remove some smaller ones really pretty easily.

Take care of yourself!! I know this can be awfully scary!

Most of these things turn out to be benign.. Ovarian cancer is very rare in comparisson to ordinary cysts and other benign conditions.. That is no reason to be complacent though and you need this to be investigated further. As one of the unlucky ones I would recommend that you get this properly diagnosed.. Ovarian Cancer has a far better chance of being treated successfully in it's early stages than if it is allowed to develop and you have a young family to consider.. Wishing you the best xxx

I agree! Mine was caught late and it is much harder and longer process to recover.

    Hi
I had fibrous cysts for many years before my ovarian cancer ever surfaced. I think the best thing is to see your gyn and if you`re not pleased with their diagnosis you can go to see a oncological gyn. Wishing you lots of love and strength.
