Wilderness Retreat!!!

Posted on 01/13/09, 09:59 pm
Okay, I just got off the phone.

I can book the campground for the weekend of May 15-16-17. Who can do this?

Here is what is involved. I have to make a $250 deposit right away. I'm more than happy to do this, but money is tight due to financial upheavals in the last two weeks for my family. I need to know that this retreat will be supported, because this is a big gamble at a crucial time. But I am 100% devoted to the cause of creating this activity for all, because I believe in its goodness with all my heart. :)

The campground is about 70 miles up from Oklahoma City, outside Stillwater.

If we can get 40 participants, we'll make cost! That will allow us to have our gathering, bring in a special musician/artist/speaker who is jaw-dropping BRILLIANT at this kind of work, and have our purification ceremony for those who are able to join us. The food won't be fancy, but then, that's not the point. The rooms are simple, not a "luxury lodge", but then...that's not the point. We will have forests, trails, hawks, a pond/lake, and each other.

I am asking for 40 members to register at $200 per person to attend.

Anyone is welcome. For the purpose of applying for grants, I am billing this as a retreat for trauma survivors, but that has nothing to do with who is actually welcomed to attend. Anyone, from any life experience, is invited.

Is there a Sonic, nearby? :)

It's in Oklahoma, so yeah. State law (and the Bible) require the presence of a Sonic.

Seriously, though, it's about 10 miles outside Stillwater, so whatever you need...

Do I count as signed-up? or do I need to get you $200. I have $100 coming pretty soon from MVI.

Hmm, now this brings up an ethical dilemma. Do I charge my wife to come? Or do I tell her it's free for her, but that I would want her to help in a lot of the panning chores in advance?

I am in for sure Matt and am even willing to do some prep chores, meal planning, shopping or anything else if you need me to-whatever you and Tonya need! When do you need us to have to $200? I probably need at least a month or so to get it to you unfortunately as I am not working yet. You can count on me though...PROMISE!!!!!!
Thanks for not giving up on this dream!
    Love ya!

Thanks!! No rush; it doesn't have to be right now. I just need to know I have participants I can count on, so I can budget for things. :)

Matt: I'm in but I have an engagement the night of the 17th and would have to be back early afternoon. I'd like to be in on the planning, if you need it.

They do. The rooms aren't fancy, but they have AC, showers, hot water, etc.

Welcome
