I had never even thought of that issue Shevan - but I do know that doctors hate the paperwork. Actually I hate
it too - it is always so complicated and I think they do that on purpose. It's easier just to pay the bill.
I heard one time that insurance companies will send out checks unsigned just to slow down the process of
paying the bill. Who knows....but I wouldn't put it past them.

How many times did you get a bill that you didn't understand - because the "accounting" wasn't straightforward - it made no sense, or that you didn't know what you were paying - the service or drug had a number and not a name - and you had to call up a phone number on the bill and have the clerk on the other end explain the bill to you? This is a part of the administrative cost - someone in a "call center" to explain the bill!
Another cost is that doctors overprescribe tests and treatments to insulate themselves from malpractice!
