Obama Admin. Declares War on Fox
Posted on 10/12/09, 04:15 pm
Yes, yes!! The White House is now seeing Fox news not as another news media outlet, but as a propaganda arm for the Repubican party, and will call them out on their lies, among other things!! I presented a thread recently on an outright lie I found Sean Hannity proclaiming (flagrantly misquoted Obama in a televised speech!). This is good news for me - the WH needs to aggressively call these charlatans out. This is not journalism - Fox news is "opinion."

They've known it all along , it's just now they are publicly calling them out on it. Good for them. -

Yeah, they've known about it, right, but finally they're going to DO something about it! How can these creeps at Fox say they're "Fair and balanced!" That's the world's biggest lie!! -

I try to watch Fox just to be fair. I always have to change the channel within 5 minutes because they are so blatantly spinning things to their advantage. I notice there is not one black anchor and only bleach blond women anchors. What's that about? YEA for Obama for calling them on it. Fair and balanced hog wash!!! -

I myself can only take five minutes of Fox, Nancy - I get so angry at the lies and distortions, the blatant reflexive negativity about the Obama administration, that I have to change the channel! -

I agree - they seem to sit around and guffaw a lot - as if they are the all-knowing, superior minds in the country and they have some sort of "in" information. Glenn Beck is a drama queen, IMO - Bill O'Reilly's ego makes him a buffoon, IMO and Sean Hannity makes no sense at all and he's dull. What a crowd.
I do think they rely on their followers' ability to suspend reality long enough to believe what they are saying - and they're probably right. -

They're probably right about what? Glen Beck got a five star review in People magazine this summer in their "Picks & Pans" section movies, (music, books and TV shows), because he is so emotional and dramatic - People saw him as a very entertaining performer, must-see TV!! As I say, this is not journalism, this is show biz - these are opinions, emotion and drama - performances! Sean Hannity is venal, reflexively negative about anything liberal or about the Obama administration, relentlessly stupid, as well as the world's biggest liar and misquoter.
Keith and Rachel are MUCH more articulate (almost preternaturally so), and they back up everything they say with videos, sources, etc. I don't notice them guffawing like Fox or anything, they don't have to - the smirks and verbal nuances when they report their thorough, dead-on reports do the job quite nicely. -

Shevan - I meant that Fox relies on their followers' ability suspend reality to buy into their BS - that's how they target their audience. And they are right about the fact that it would be necessary to suspend reality, in order to become totally emotional, in order to buy anything said on Fox.
Glenn Beck just cried again the other night - about how much he loves this country when he was talking about Dunn - give me a break! Do you know that he has referred to himself as a Rodeo Clown? Just an entertainer - why these people do not take that to heart, I have no idea.
You cannot be grounded in reality and listen to Fox - and accept what is said. Does that make sense?
I agree totally about MSNBC - they present information - they are not a sideshow. Rachel Maddow is amazing, IMO and I don't see slant coming from her. But you know - Beck presents videos too - I recall Hitler's army marching across his back drop when he was talking about Obama - what an ass. -

A video of Hitler's army from the 40's is not the kind of video I am referring to. I am referring to current news clips they show of someone saying something or debating something, or just plain giving a speech or opinion, or a clip of a crowd at a rally or something recently.
Just so you know - Beck uses Vicks Vaporub to produce the tears. This was in the media recently. Really. Yes, you have to be grounded in reality to see Fox for what it is, and out of contact with it in order to buy into it.
I just watched 5" of Glenn Beck. I cannot for the life of me see how people can watch this and take him seriously. I felt my IQ drop several points just watching this garbage. You see these talking points produced as comments here on DS, too. There are people on DS with avatars of Obama and Marx with a hammer and sickle above them. Asinine. -

Wow, GB must have some clear sinuses.
The only problem I have is that by letting his reps call out Fox (rather than just denying them access or saying nothing) is that the Obama admin's just added fuel to their anti-Obama fire.
