Pain/Weakness/Fatigue and Seeking
Posted on 10/03/09, 11:05 am
Hi everyone. I have gotten a referral to the UC Davis Neuro Clinic. I am just waiting to hear back from them. Also, I have a referral sitting on the desk of a new pain management doctor. My current treatment has been with my primary and he is doing the best he can, but the PHN is really, really bad right now. When I have a day of activity, the next day I feel like someone beat me up. I do not lay in bed. I can't. Yet, there are days when I just have to lay down. Lately, I water the lawn sitting down. Yesterday I felt like I was going to fall flat from the fatigue. The pain is bad enough, but the weakness and fatigue is a killer. When I got a severe case of Shingles in August, it just wiped me out. I did not think things could get worse. Wish me luck.

Hello Colleen:
I have had PN ,affecting every inch of my body for 4 years . Until I got the right drug mix for me( lyrica, cymbalta, norco and oxycontin) I was fatigued continually . Even right now after 30 minutes or so of gardening or other types of exercise I am fatigued the remainder of that day and it spills over to the next day . I have to watch what I do and don't get carried away . That is the best advice I can give you . Watch what you do even though it limits your life . I have found a lot of support in my Christian community and reading the bible . I will pray for you Colleen . Midland -

Hi Midland. Thank you for the information. I, too, need the right drug mix. I just wish this could happen sooner, not later. Right now I cannot afford the lyrica as I used up my full drug insurance allotment until next year. They will cover generics now (for $10), but you have to pay cash for brand. My primary will not give me anything stronger than Norco. I have another appointment with him this week, and I have to get to the bottom of the referral to the pain management doctor. It seems ridiculous to let me wait so long without a response. I will pray for you also. Please take care. Colleen
