Lyrica?
Posted on 05/06/09, 08:30 am
I was given a prescription for Lyrica yesterday.
My doctors file showed I took it in 2006 for a short time and went off if because of side effects. Because he only gave me samples, he did not write down what they were and I do not remember. I must have had 100 meds since then, none that have worked, literally and I cant remember what med did what to me.
I just finished a disasterous try with Cymbalta - never in my life did I feel so awful so i'm really nervous to take anything that's going to make me feel that way again.
Has anyone on here taken or currently taking Lyrica, if so how much and how's it working for you?
Is it treating the pain?
What side effects do you have?
Thanks!

You may want to go back into this group of the many pages already written on Lyrica, many have wrote in detail about their experience. It helps with neuropathy pain. For me, it was the best thing ever, it has helped tremendously. -

I agree, Lyrica has been discussed in great detail. It seems to be one of those meds you either love or hate. It has helped me with fibromyalgia and peripheral neuropathy both. I sure can tell if I run out!

Just got away from the Neurologist and she has put the lyrica up to 600mg per day and 60mg of Cymbalta. The pain has gotten to a point of no return feeling to me. Foot burn I call it up pass the ankles into my calfs and the hand and arm pain same as the feet and legs. I'll let you know if the combonation of Meds work in about a week or so. -

Hi,
I have thought often of taking Lyrica, I have had PN, burning hands and feet for 23 years, it is getting more difficult to deal with. I was concerned about the side effects, as I do not like pharmaceuticals, and I am already taking bio-identical hormones and thyroid medication. The doctor told me about it, and I told him about the potential of suicidal tendencies, which he did not know about, even though he did the clinical research on it! -

I also have burning hands and feet. It got to the point where i couldn't stand the pain. I have started lyrica, and the pain has improved. It is not completely gone but it is much better. I take 75mgs three times a day. I have hyperthyroidism and take levothyroxin .112. which seems to be ok.
If u start Lyrica start on a low dose and work up to higher dosage, u will have fewer side effects. I find if the dose is to high i have reactions. My doctor wanted me to take 100mgs. three Xs a day . It was to much for me, but 75 mgs. worked. Still have some pain but is manageable.
I hope this information is helpful to u. -

Lyrica worked on me great for 2 weeks, then nothing but the side effects and gained 10 pounds in a month! -

Right now I'm on 100mg 3x a day of Lyrica and it works great with getting rid of the numbness and tingling, but that's about it. I can't tell if it's really worth it since the side effects really aren't that fun. I'm constantly dizzy and nauseated even when I haven't done anything. -

Lyrica caused me to gain twenty pounds. It took care of the pain. But I became allergic to it. I had laryngeal edema and had to stop cold turkey. Withdrawal was horrible. Cymbalta helped but had suicidal thoughts far too often - my brain must be that of a teenager!
