Scaitic Nerve Pain

Can the Scaitic Nerve Pain feel like a Hot Fork Poking the tissue in and around your knees? Been getting this quite often now and its quite sharp and sometimes catches me off guard and just feels so intense. Is there something that I can try so that I wont get this so often?

Sciatica nerve pain is more like a hot fork being thrust in your lower back. It radiates through the buttocks and down through the legs. I've had it before and it is usually constant and ongoing for awhile.

I'm not quite sure what you are feeling, but it sure sounds painful. I'm sure you'll have more answers come in within the next couple days.

Hang in there, sweetie. I'm keeping you on my mind and in my heart.

hi, try to get this checked out right away. If it is sciatica, PT does help, along with the right exercises. I never paid attention to mine when it was just when I was sleeping, though it was painful. Once it started going to my hip, leg and down to the toes day and night, that's when I knew sciatica can get worse :( ... so keep on top if it, be religious about doing what you can because you can help with the right program.

ps... also I take anti-inflammatories, and use heat on my lower back which helps... try different things to see which works for you. Happiest of new year's to you and all.

I struggled with sciatic nerve pain for years. Bed rest, ultrasound, nothing helped...until chiropractic care. My pain shot from my left buttock down to my knee, sometimes to my toes. I mentioned it to the chiropractor whom I was seeing for an unrelated matter.

She placed me on my right side on her table, legs extended, lying straight. She then helped me bring my left leg up a 90-degree angle (since I was in too much pain to lift it myself), so my knee was sticking forward towards her and my feet/toes pointing downwards towards the end of the table. She then put one hand on my left hip to hold it in place while using her other hand to push down on my left thigh/knee somehow. I felt instant relief. She repeated it on two subsequent visits. No my sciatic nerve pain. Hope this helps!

I think the procedure SandHarbor3 is speaking of is one my dr. did on me years ago. Yes it does help. He also gave me exercises to do and they worked wonders.

    Gabbygal,

I'm guessing your chiro. gave you stretch exercises to do? I do those as part of my normal exercise warm-up routine moreso than specifically for sciatic problems. I'm hoping others besides you and I are able to benefit from this technique and don't suffer needlessly.

FYI - I just noticed...My second-to-last sentence should read: "No more sciatic nerve pain." ;-)

I suffer from sciatica pain. Nothing works when the pain is bad. I hope someday something will.
