Hey Moon Bunny,
I am taking SAM-e. I take it for rheumatoid arthritis. It has a slight effect on mood...I have yet to notice it on joints BUT most supplements take around 4 months to really work and I've only been on this for two.
Hope that helps!

Has anyone tried this, or known someone who has?
My husband was doing some research on meds to help porphyria (other than the usual glucose IV/human blood injections), and he came across a study that says SAM-e helps reduce porphyrins. Apparently, it does some other things too.
I had never heard of it before, but when I looked it up online, I saw that it's a natural mood enhancer/stabilizer that "just happens" to also be of value for certain other issues as well. (I'm interested in its healing properties, but the mood enhancement couldn't hurt, I guess!) I'd be interested in hearing about anyone's experiences with it, good or ill, or really any opinions or impressions that people have. It seems like one of those miracle cure-alls that can't possibly work. ;) Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

Hi, I took it to get some joint pain relief. I have found the "mood enhancing" properties to work backwards on me. I get very irritable and impatient each time I take it, like PMS. I also did not notice any relief of pain. My husband has banned it from the house. -

I've taking it for several months for mood enhancement; it seems to loose some of its efficacy over time; it also is rather pricey...... -

Daven,
I'm feeling like it's doing the same for me. I do feel a difference in my mood, but I'm not feeling a difference in my joints, and it IS rather pricey. Anyone else have any opinions?
