Evening Primrose

Posted on 05/15/09, 08:44 am
Recently a friend of mine has mentioned "Evening Primrose" tea. ( He has MS and so do I). He says it's been very beneficial and his wife also uses it.
I was wondering if anyone here has ever used it and what benefits they may have gotten from it.

Iwas taking evening primrose vitamn supplement for awhile. It didnt seemed to do anything for me. The tea might yield different results. I believe its supposed to be a muscle relaxant aid, calming agent.

Hi, Thanks Pat. Last night I searched for the tea at a local grocery store and they did'nt have any. They did have Evening Primrose capsules, but they were over $20.00. I did'nt get them but will continue to look around and get more info on it. Thanks!

Jewell, try Amazon or Walmart. I got some EP capsules at W-mart for about six bucks, pretty large bottle. Amazon has several different suppliers with good prices as well.

Hi It's Quietnlike it........previously Jewell2.....(changed my name when I changed my e-mail address). I just want to say thank you jlynn and Pat. I have now been taking the Evening Primrose and I do feel better since i've been taking it. I have MS and I tried the Omega 3 fish oils but could'nt take them.......not even the burpless ones, as they made my GERD worse.

Now I am weaning myself off of the Nexium and am hoping for some more positive effects. I really don't like taking medicines if I can help it.

Also yes, Walmarts' prices for the Evening Primrose are great. I'm glad I found something that works for me.
    :-)

All I know is that my stomach problems(gas and bloating, acid reflux) all went away when I went gluten free. I really wish I could afford to go completely organic. I havent had fast food in over 6 months. I feel great for the most part, and I am down to a 32 waist size from a 36. My wife is very jealous...:)

Hi lmso, thanks for your reply. I have to wonder what the breast condition was because last time I had my mammogram they found lumps but appeared non cancerous. I have to go back this month for another one to make sure all is well. I have read that Nexium can cause such problems in some people. Wonder if that is what has happend with me.

Hi Pat, that is awesome that once you went on the gluten free diet, it all went away. Was it difficult to determine which foods were gluten free, so you could avoid them? I too wish I could go organic. But I run into the same problem with the cost. It really doesnt make sense to me why a food that is organic with less processing costs more than food that has been through loads of processing.
Good for you in finding what works for you and what does'nt.

QUIETNLIKEIT..........About the fibrocystic breast condtion, My DOCTOR said , alot of time other diseases will cause this condtion, In my case it was the lupus that caused it ! Do you have an auto- immune disease ?
In the past, many physicians have referred to fibrocystic breasts, or lumpy breasts, as "fibrocystic breast disease." This term is misleading because fibrocystic breast condition is not a disease , it is a common, ""non-cancerous breast condition "".....
    SYMPTOMS...
cysts (fluid-filled sacs) ..fibrosis (formation of scar-like connective tissue) ..lumpiness ..areas of thickening ..tenderness ..pain..*Symptoms are worse during menstrual cycle/hormonal changes.
The* ""Evening PRIMPOSE""* will help you with the symptoms of this condition...Also no caffeine coffee, tea(some) chocolate and no un-wire bra's...Some dr's say wearing "no-bra" , will help with pain & swelling.
    * Also I would like to share this.... I eat mostly organic foods and feel much better, I never eat out , fast food..ect. Where I live I don't see a big differance in the prices of (organic foods), yes it's alittle higher, but I view my food as medicine, I need it & I' m worth it !!!!
PS.......I order my "" EVENING PRIMPOSE""" online .....Hugs & Prayer to all !!!

I've been meaning to try Evening Primose oil. How long does it take to work usually?
Another thing that's great for fibrocystic breast condition is Serracor-NK because it reduces inflammatory fibrin in the body.
    Hugs,
    Sarah
