Now that I have your attention.....

Should it be illegal to drive while under the influence of cannabis and if so, why?

If not... why not?

This is a no brainer.........you need your brain to drive, soooooooo it should be treated the same as liquor. But my question back is how do they measure the legal limit?

yes! I think it should be illegal to drive under the influence of cannabis. Why? Because it impairs your judgement, at least it does mine.

Yes it should be illegal. It impairs judgment and can affect your reaction time. I don't know how they would measure it, probably do an "impairment" test of some sort.

Why would you want to drive after a smoke?............lol

Sometimes.. it just has to be done.

Most think that cannabis causes reaction times to be slower and impaired judgment but would be shocked to learn what the studies show.

There are very few traffic accidents that are truly attributed to cannabis. Those that are usually result from someone dropping a lit joint down their shirt, (been there done that), causing traffic jams when stopping to score a few grams on the street corner, or by driving 5 miles per hour eating a bag of chips.

So where does the bad rap come from?

Autopsies. Although the effects of THC are only felt for a few hours, the chemical stays in your system for 3-4 weeks because it is a natural product that the liver doesn't filter out. When the tox labs come back they will show everything in the system. The "boneheads" will automatically blame it on the cannabis. (keeps the DEA in business)

Years ago while visiting a science center with some friends, I was told the same thing about reaction times and let it be known that I thought it was bullshit. So we very quickly set up a test with the aid of some great staff members. Four of us went through a driving simulation and had all of our reaction times recorded. We then proceeded to get wasted and did the tests again.

Everyone of us improved our reaction times and my reaction times were in fact twice as good high as straight. When I was younger I was always driving and smoking, and the only problem I used to have was keeping up to the posted speed limit. Always drove slower.

All of the studies and tests done have been done with simulators. They just aren't the same. So Bless the Brits.. they did their own quick test and check out these results....

This is surprising. As a former toker, I thought our reaction times would be way impaired. I guess I'll have to believe the studies, but I do know that pot is far less impairing in driving than alcohol. Done both. When I got older, I never drove under the influence of ETOH. Unless it's one glass or wine, maybe two. Driving stoned? It just is kind of a paranoid way to drive, which isn't fun....! And if you goofed up on something and a cop stopped you and took a look at your eyes, he'd give you a DUI test. And you'd probably fail.....

There are some people that can maintain when under the influence and those who cant. I think it depends on the person, and how loaded they are. I for one cannot drive .. I dont drive now anyway but when i did in those circumstances I could not. :)

ive been driving everyday under the influence of weed for uhhh 12 years. Never been in a accident, but i still avoid them all the time. 90 percent of people on the road around here cant drive sober. So no way it should be allowed with all the jackasses on the road.
