skin care question....

Posted on 03/27/09, 11:07 am
SO embarrassed to ask.. but....need to know what products have yall found are helpful for skin care, regarding the poor sensitive, getting no air, always moist areas under rolls of fat??? I have tried Gold Bond products and they help some, but every day the area under my belly fat roll and inner thigh/leg areas are always so irritated, sore, raw at times and itchy. I HATE IT!!! Even when I shower, at times when it is so raw and sore that just warm water hitting hurts like he##.
Seems almost like a yeast infection or something similar. I had asked my Gyn about it last year and she suggested the Gold Bond products.

Anyone have any other ideas?????

I use an over the counter product Lotrimin or Vagisel that is for yeast. It is a yeast type problem that cause your skin to get raw and sore. I put the cream on and then some powder to keep it from getting on underware and from getting to sticky. You need to wash and dry really good before reapplying . I just pat it dry because it hurts too much to just rub it dry. I also use Nutcainal at times. It takes to pain away and also helps with the redness. Might try to leave the area open to air at night if you can. Just some suggetions. I hope it helps.

My shower isn't the greatest but I love the fact that I can take it off the upright (overhead) bar, turn the water to cold and blast away at those crevices, rinsing the soap away and oooling the whole area - also I found that patting the skin dry is better than rubbing it dry. I have had the same problem as you and the problem disappeared when I gave up the yeast and sugar (sugar is food for yeast to grow) - easier said than done I know - someone told me she uses petroleum jelly which she finds helps. Personally I try not to put anything chemical or perfumed on those itchy areas and try and keep my clothing loose so it all stays dry. It was always the worst under my bust and I can so remember from your description what it was like. I hope you find something that works for you.

In the summer time when I sweat more I use unscented spray antiperspirant. It feels like a seal and it is also a cooling sensation when putting it on. It also kind of helps with odor, but mainly chafing.

Thanks ladies. I appreciate your ideas. When I run out of the GoldBond I will try your ideas.

Also HUGE thanks for not making any nasty comments. I posted similar topic on Weight Watchers dot com website last summer on the need to lose 100+ lbs thread and some were just rude.

    So again, THANKS!!!!!!

Hi, if these ideas don't help, talk to your doctor. There are prescription creams and powders that can help with this problem. I have this problem in the summer also. I've also worked in nursing homes and have taken care of residents that have this problem. One of the things we do is to place gauze pads to avoid skin on skin contact. Sometimes that helps clear things up before we have to go to medications. However, I understand that an active person that is up and walking around this isn't a feasable idea. Might help when you are lying down in bed though. Good luck!!!

Other than products to put on your skin, I have found a lifesaver article of clothing for the chafing between one's thighs. They are split skirt slips, and I wear them every day. They are made of the same fabric that a slip is, but they are "pants" that come down almost to your knees. Very soft and not tight on the leg. You can get them online at http://www.silhouettes.com under the heading "intimates and sleepwear". They have sizes up to 6X, which is about equal to a size 36 or 38.

I haven't gotten sore or raw since I quit wearing pantyhose. (All my dresses and skirts are long enough to wear knee hi hose instead.)

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who sprays deoderant :D

SunCat, I am soooooooo gonna order some slips from that website. I love to wear skirts in the summer but I end up wearing shorts underneath and that's not too comfortable. Slips are much more comfy!!!! Thanks for the tip on that.
