    I guess I'll start...

    this is my city.

Our city is very interesting, we have 4 working draw bridges to allow water traffic through, we have quite a bit of history which I think is amazing. Our clock tower was once featured on ripley's believe it or not because fish were getting sucked up into the mechanisms of the clock. We have many of our original buildings and "historical districts"... another interesting thing is that on one of our streets (and several streets to either side) we have beautiful giant houses that were built during the hay day of Bay City by the lumber "lords" they are SO BEAUTIFUL and some of them have their original carriage houses.

I'm not involved with the politics of my city, but some of the things that bothers me is that the economy here in Bay City is so low that things are closing and people are moving out. It saddens me!

What could I do to make the city better? I really don't know... but something I will think on.

I have lived in Freeland for most of my life now which is about 9 years... There isn't very much that happened within the years, but our Symphony Band is one of best in the state.... We always get straight ones at district band festival.... Sorry I really don't know if I put the right info in this, but I listed the statistics that were found on the internet....

theres my town. i actually live in the next town over right now, but lawton's my home city, so i put that. i still go to school there.
uhm...so lawton has no traffic lights. yeah. we don't need them because there aren't any cross streets. theres this resturant called Big T that we're kind of known for. the owners just keep expanding, so it takes up like half a city block. all other businesses fail because Big T monopolizes the town. and everybody knows everybody. like if my family gets together (usually at Big T lol) my grandma always tells one of the waitresses "if you see any of my kids just send them on back here" and they all answer "will do, Mrs. Stermer" because everybody just knows.

Something that bothers me about my city is the lack of help for some of the people in need. With my husband being disabled, I've tried getting help in different areas. He's not old enough for some things, not a vet for others. We have too much in assets to get assistance, doesn't matter that it is assets we can't touch. When it come to getting help from DHS or for the Saginaw health plan, which is a free health insurance, Saginaw is a very bad plan to live. I've been told of people in Flint (Genessee county) that have gotten help and they're not any better or worse off than we are. Sorry, starting to ramble.
Not realy involved in the politics of the city and I'm doing the best I can to fight for the rights of people like my husband and I and hopefully can make the city better.

I'm also from Saginaw. Technically Bridgeport but its a part of Saginaw. I can say as a teenager without a high school diploma, trying to earn a GED, it's hard. No local entry level jobs. School was full of drugs, fighting. I spent more time out of school than in it before I dropped out. Really I don't mind it here so much, if it wasn't for the extreme lack of entry level jobs, the poor roads. I live in a more rural part but.

As far as politics. The only thing that comes to mind involves GM and Delphi. So many jobs lost, I think its hard on everyone right now. Over-qualified people working in positions that make it almost impossible for a kid to find work.

Also, they're opening a dialysis center in Bridgeport, my mother, who has bad kidneys and requires dialysis twice a week, lives not two miles from the new center. However because of bullcrap with Blue cross Blue Shield my mother is not allowed there yet, and has to drive 20 minutes in the morning, before the plows get out, in the cold or the rain, to dialysis and back.

But I guess, crap like that happens everywhere.

Its not downright horrible but, I think it could be better.

Welcome
