hey everyone! i just got medicare. i still don't understand it. i have had VA care since July 05 (my discharge) and so i don't understand how this new medical coverage works. i'm trying to get some kind of dental coverage as i need much work to be done. i live in Hawaii so i guess i need to find what dental services are in my area. so does this mean when i find something that may work, i can switch my plan? right now i'm only on medicare original. what else do i need to know about this? thanks!

If you are on SSDI you may qualify for state medicaid ins. which covers basic dental. Medicare will not pay for dental unless it is a surgery. You can go to the medicare website to learn about the coverage for your state. Medicaid also has a site. you can google it. go to the one that ends in .gov.

I'm sorry I have not been watching lately. The problem is that in most states if you are under 65 you will not be able to get any kind of Medigap insurance. The Fed does not require every state to offer this to those of us on Medicare under the age of 65. So we are just screwed until we turn 65. If you live in a state that offers a Medigap then you are very fortunate.

Welcome
