Do you have a photo that you keep to remind you of your goals? Whether you're losing or gaining weight, sometimes that visual helps us to stay faithful to our resolutions. Whether it be a photo of the pants that you'd one day like to fit in, or a photo of an athlete running a marathon, pictures can evoke an emotional response that may help us curb our bad habits.

If you have photos you'd like to see, go ahead and post them in the group photo album!

Was That Weekend Tough? Here Are Some Tips To Do It Better Next Time

Posted by TeamDS - 01/10/11, 04:04 pm

Read the latest article from Aaron Snyder: Are You A Weekend Weight Gainer? Break the Cycle! which talks about a study done on a group of people who exercise or count their calories, but not both. The weekends are what really killed their diets and they actually ended up gaining weight, little by little!

Here's a tip: Plan your meals in advance this week. What are you having for dinner tonight? What about your meal and snack plan for tomorrow? The day after that?

It's tedious, but if you plan what you're going to eat each day, including the weekends, you put yourself in control.

But what if you're going to a dinner party or a brunch?

If there is an upcoming event or two that will tempt your tastebuds with unhealthy choices, plan ahead by making sure you don't eat a lot before the event. Have just a salad for lunch if there's a dinner party, or prepare the salad for dinner if you're going to have a big brunch. Also, it's okay to indulge in a pancake breakfast or to have a few wrapped pig-in-blankets as an appetizer, just make sure you're aware of your portion sizes!

Think like a European: It's true that American portion sizes are giant compared to European portion sizes. If it's a buffet, just get a small taste of everything you're craving. Or if you're being served a huge platter of steak, just eat a quarter of what is being served, and drink water between every bite. You'll not only slow down your eating and feel full faster, but you'll look more graceful than everyone else inhaling their food at a ghastly rate!

If you didn't do so well this past weekend, resolve to plan ahead for the next weekend! It's only Monday, so you have plenty of time to put a game plan in place.

Don't forget to be supportive of other people's goals! Check in every now and then and ask how other members' goals are doing! We can do it!

Best of luck!
