Need someone to talk to

Posted on 07/08/09, 01:26 am
Hi, everyone. I have been in recovery for eating disorder and alcoholism for about 6 years. I relapsed Friday, am back at meetings, counseling etc. My boyfriend of 7 months new of my past history, but after this terrible relapse says he only wants to be friends/support. What Im not understanding and I'm somewhat grateful for is that I have seen him everyday and things haven't changed in our relationship (sexually or otherwise) only that he is sometimes a little standoffish. He says he loves me but cant handle my problem. Although he hasn't told me he loves me in the past 2 days. I told him that I am going to be fine. I know from experience what I need to do to get on track. I love him and have spent so much time with him and his children. I just feel that he is being very condemning, but at the same time I can understand how scared he is. Someone please give me some direction here. I need prayers for strength and God's will.

If you have been fighting this for 7 years than there is no doubt in my mind you know what you have to do to get right. He may have known about your past and what you guys have talked about but now he has seen it. There is a difference I'm sure you understand that. He may be scared or shocked or both. He may be questioning his life choices right now. Do what you have to do, fix yourself and in doing so you are showing yourself and him you can do it. Be honest, open and do it. I know, easier said than done. Good luck.
