what difficulties are you encountering, dddeerma, from the indian pharmacy? Which one is it?
DellaJeanne, LDN is the most exciting medical break-through I have ever come across. What I love about it is that it supports the body's own ability to heal itself. I also love the fact that it makes people feel happier, which is a great bonus compared with, say, chemotherapy! I am still researching its full potential, limitations and optimal prescribing. I suspect it will work better for some folk when incorporated into a holistic assessment of their health including lifestyle, gut function and diet. For example, it might have an up-hill struggle to heal a person if they also suffer from Candida or a severe gut Dysbiosis.
I just think it is sad that Doctors have become addicted to this new 'Evidence based' religion, and have taken it to such an extreme that doctors are strongly discouraged from relying on case reports and on the clinical experience of their colleagues unless these are already supported by pre-existing protocols, which themselves base themselves on drug company sponsored studies to a great extent. It stifles innovation, and is giving LDN a hard time catching on.

Doctor pushers

Why is it that there are so many people out there that push "you should ask your doctor about alternative medications" and honestly, have no brain of their own? Not only do they not have a brain, but they don't want you to have a brain either! A simple question to someone else, "what was your experience to that supplement" turns into someone chiming in, "you should could consult your doctor first." Um....who asked you!!??
Sorry to vent but I get sooo annoyed. It seems like it happens from time to time and it drives me absolutely insane. It's the rare individual that thinks for themselves and yet there are people out there trying to get those people to Not think for themselves.
WHy???WHY????
Just felt like venting and I couldn't help it. Thanks for listening!!

Some doctors are highly qualified to advise people on what supplements to take, but if they know that stuff they probably didnt learn it in med school. Most doctors training are severely deficient in nutrition and supplements, especially herbs. I have taken 5 times as much nutrition at the college level than most physicians have had to take to become a doctor. If you find one who knows more about nutrition and supplements than to dribble some garbage like "eat a balanced diet, reduce your salt and follow the crappy corporate food pyramid" then consider yourself blessed.
I do think it can be a good idea to consult some kind of authority though, even if that person lacks a medical degree, since a medical degree does not qualify you to be an authority on nutrition or supplements.
