Doctor pushers

Why is it that there are so many people out there that push "you should ask your doctor about alternative medications" and honestly, have no brain of their own? Not only do they not have a brain, but they don't want you to have a brain either! A simple question to someone else, "what was your experience to that supplement" turns into someone chiming in, "you should could consult your doctor first." Um....who asked you!!??
Sorry to vent but I get sooo annoyed. It seems like it happens from time to time and it drives me absolutely insane. It's the rare individual that thinks for themselves and yet there are people out there trying to get those people to Not think for themselves.
WHy???WHY????
Just felt like venting and I couldn't help it. Thanks for listening!!

i so agree, Sarah. And if you say you are taking it without a dr script, they are horrified. That is the case with my husband and mother's use of LDN, so we keep it to ourselves. For mine I have a cooperative neuro and I have turned down the CRABS, plus she agrees they would not help me in the secondary progressive stage. I told her what I wanted, and she did it. I am basically managing my own case. I like it that way. -

Della,
Thanks so much for responding. Yes, you're right, they're horrified! Hah, I take my LDN without a script too and yes, I like it that way. I wish I could manage everything like that. I'm so glad you have a neuro that's cooperating. That's a real relief! It's truly hard to find people like that. I no longer take the normal drugs like prednisone and methotrexate for RA.....they sit in my medicine cabinet. I take other medications that I find online, mainly LDN and Neprinol and feel so much better. Of course, I still have inflammation in my hands but I'm WAY better than I was on the other drugs......and they're soo scary. I get crazed when people think these other medications are so much safer because a doctor is prescribing them, and yet there's a really good chance you'll get cancer later on from them! For the most part, I keep my thoughts to myself. I am thankful for this group and the kind of people who are on it! -

Do you take MSM? It helps my bursitis greatly. I buy it at the health food store and it is cheap. When I quit taking it, the pain comes back after a few weeks. When I start it up again, it takes a few days to work. -

Della,
I've been meaning to take MSM again. I do take it from time to time, but not regularly. I'm on a lot of pills....a lot! So I have the pills with MSM and yet I haven't been taking them! You've given me inspiration to work on that! I've been meaning to buy a pill organizer so that I have an easier time. Thank you for the encouragement!

PS - Many have the same response over using 'natural therapies'. They look at using vitamins, minerals, herbs, homeopathics, etc. as if they are poisons from a witchs' caldron, yet think absolutely nothing of taking a medicine that has a laundry list of published and dangerous side-effects, even death. And then, when they experience those side effects, will return to the same doctors that prescribed them ... and try some more!
Humans ... a weird lot for sure.

good on you, folks. I am a medical doctor, but I value your autonomy. I also get frustrated at professionals putting themselves on pedestals, and stifling autonomy of their clients.. -

doc, what do you think of LDN? -

It is so frustrating, I have a doctor "researching" LDN, but not prescribing, and the place in India is being unhelpful about sending me some. This is just not right. If naltrexone is safe in large amounts, why should anyone care about teeny tiny doses???
