ldn as first and only med anyone?

Outside of some bladder issues which have steadily been improving, I have no outwardly visible nor any functional deficits due to my RRMS. My first sign of MS was optic neuritis which came on suddenly but steadily improved over some weeks. I thought the vision issue was just due to my age so blew it off. I then had some mild sensory deficit on my thighs but it too went away and I dismissed it to a pinched nerve. Then, about two years after these episodes, I had a bad relapse that came on slowly but resulted in my not being able to walk without assistance, the loss of my right limb, and a mild deficit of sensory ability on the right half of my body. All this was restored to normal with IV steroids and apart from some ever improving bladder issues, I have no symptoms of MS at all (apart from the MRI evidence and CSF test). I have never taken any of the ms meds whatsoever. I had been following a modified Best Bet Diet strictly for two years but have let up some as of late with no deleterious consequences. I was wondering if there is anyone out there whose sole medication for their RRMS has never been anything but LDN (apart from dietary supplements) and if they started it before they were experiencing serious neurological deficits. I talked to one doctor about it and though he didn't seem opposed to the idea, because I am doing so well he didn't think LDN was necessary at this point. I haven't seen anything regarding the benefits of LDN physiologically (reduction or cessation of lesions for example) but I am still looking into it. It seems there is definite proof that it improves symptoms so I would imagine it would have to be doing something to improve the cause physiologically. Bottom line is, I am wondering if it would be to my advantage health wise to go ahead and start on the LDN despite my current state of wellness regarding the illness. Any thoughts?

I didn't find LDN until I was secondary progressive, but it keeps my bladder near normal, energy at normal. If you start it now, you'll never know how bad you are without it, but it could keep you from ever getting bad. Then again, you might have a benign course and not get any worse without it. LDN also helps fight cancer, Ahlzheimer's, and crohn's, so it should be beneficial as a preventative. -

Does the LDN help you with having to urinate at night? I was going 3-4 times a night but found out I had had a bladder infection for quite sometime. Took antibiotics and it cleared up and I am only going once a night (at 3AM). There is still a trace of blood in my urine so perhaps I am still healing and the issue will go away completely once I am healed. But if not, does the LDN do anything for having to get up at night to urinate? -

Yes, on LDN I get up once, around four hours after going to bed. After that I last five or six hours. And during the day, too, I last three or four hours without the old urgency. I mean, I can hold it till I get to the bathroom. -

Remember, too, that the dose is almost homeopathic, according to my neuro. It can't do any harm, but the side effects might bother you--vivid dreams and increased leg stiffnness. -

if LDN STOPS progression, and LDN will help heal recent issues, you should start it YESTERDAY
I wish I could go back to 1981 and get on LDN, or even 1998 or 2000 or 2001 or 2002.
I can sleep 6-10 hours at times without having to get up to go. I'm on it since 2003 though. I never used to sleep more than 5-6 hours when I was working constantly, so I never knew how long I could go if I were sleeping.
I'm on 3.0 MG only, I don't like how 4.5 makes me... subtle, but annoying.
I also take B1 100 MG with my LDN every night, seems to help with the leg stiffness.
Vivid dreams only bother you if you have a guilty conscience ;) and only for a while. I figure LDN is helping the pineal gland too

I second Larry in saying I wish I had found it when I was first diagnosed. I would have taken it along with the Swank diet and vitamins and I know I would still be walking. -

I certainly believe LDN is good for you, whether you're healthy or not. I have RA and it's helped me a lot!

Awesome! Best of luck to you. I started LDN a week ago today. I am so grateful not to do the shots anymore! I was on Avonex for 8 yrs. I told my sister the other day that if she ever (God forbid) was dx with MS to try the LDN first. So again, Best of Luck and God Bless. -

Thanks! I did shots of B1 and liver extract for a while but I could not stand the shots. I still have bruises, and I haven't done a shot for several weeks! I wish I would have found ldn 11 years ago. My first night was fine, I was worried though a little bit. I am on 4.5. Good luck to you also and God Bless.
