FInding compliments

When I am feeling feeling lonely, I remember the story about complimentary peanuts which are found (used to be found?) in bars. A man in a suit went into a bar, up to the bartender, and ordered a beer. It was a small bar, and he looked around and saw no one else. From the corner, he heard a voice: "Now there's a good looker. Real ladies man. Life of the party." It made him look again to see who was talking. He asked the bartender what was going on.
"Oh, that's just the complimentary peanuts."
