When you visit the barber
And sit in his chair,
Don't squirm
Like a worm
While he's cutting your hair.
Don't shiver
And quiver
And bounce up and down.
Don't shuffle
And snuffle
And act like a clown.
Each wiggle
Will jiggle
The blades of the shears.
Clip-clip,
Clip-clip.
Those scissors can slip
And snip
Off a tip
Of one of your tender pink ears!

To get a hare-cut.
The baa-baa shop.
Now just in case you don't know, I warn you not to try this on freshly bleached and dyed hair. Because you hair will turn to rubber and look very brassy and will kink up. When you try to comb through it, it will s >t >r> e> a> c> h. I was panicked and was crying. I did not know what to do all I could think of was to cut my hair really short. So there I am in the bath room cutting my hair as best I could. I looked like an Indian had scalped me. My hair was so short that I could not get my hair around the skinniest roller. Now I was really panicked. I was to have a date that night with JR. He is going to flip out! He likes long hair and now not only is my hair green but it is shorter than his flat top. I am so up set and I know when JR sees my hair he is going to make me cry.
Now it is several hours later and I am getting ready for my date. I am still crying over my hair. It is almost time for JR to pick me up. I look in the mirror. Oh gad I hate my hair! I get dressed and then think I know I will just put a scarf over my hair. Well that does not look too bad. I am ready. The doorbell rings. I open the door and greet JR. He does not say anything about my scarf or hair. We get in the car and start to drive off. Just down the road he asks, what is with the scarf? I said, donât ask. He again asks, what is with the scarf? Why do you have a scarf on your head? I said, I donât want to talk about it .You will get mad or you will laugh. I am not taking it off. JR just drives not saying anything. We get to a restaurant, park and get out and go in. We sit down and he says take that scarf off. I shook my head no. He gets a bit miffed and huffs and leans back in his chair and again looking angry and says, Take the stupid scarf off. I say, OK but you promise you wonât laugh or say anything bad. He says Just take it off. So the unveiling takes place. For about one half seconds JR says nothing and then he says in a loud voice what the hell did you do! My eyes fill with tears. JR says, what happened to your hair? I am blubbering and trying to say, it is all your fault. Then I start the whole story. He can hardly understand what I am trying to say because I am crying and blubbering and he stops me right in the middle of the story and says, â PUT THE SCARF BACK ONâ!
Do I need to say more? My hair did grow back out and JR said many times after that, how he loved my long natural brown hair. He would tell people donât you think her hair is pretty it is all natural. I never did dye my hair again. And to this day I have long brown hair. JR is no long in the picture and I am now 64 years old and that old gray is starting to show. I wonder should I cover up the gray or just let nature take its course.
