Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
I am pretty aggressive with seeking pain treatments that are herbal or natural remedies. I also swim, and do hot tub therapy which I believe helps me a lot.
I still have what I call "bad spells" and I know when I have pushed my luck too far.....
I try to pace myself when I have chores to do, and that seems to help also.
i can still work (barely) and often have days in bed. i rely on opioid drugs which i swear by. they are not for everyone and i sure pay a price in side and long term effects. but we each do what we can to get by.
i am not sure if you feel you are getting the best medical treatment? do you have a support network of family and friends, someone who can help find out if you can get any home help or disability support? even some mobility equipment could help - things to help you roll in bed, modified drinking cups... there are even devices to make computing easier, like voice software, better keyboards.
i know at first it is a shock to our dignity but by heaven if some device for disabled people will reduce my pain i will take it. i am about to have my first order of frozen microwavable meals delivered by a charity at a budget price. i used to work for charities like that, now i am using them at 40.
As for cooking I use to love to cook now just doing something easy is an effort and I have to set timers for every thing incase I walk out of the room and forget I'm cooking something and even to remind me its time to leave for an appointment or if I let the cats out I need to check to see if they are ready to come back in ( I use to go out with them for an hour aday so now they only stay out an hour and are ready to come back in).
When I watch TV I get up during commerical and do house work so I get things done and don't over do it.
I have to push myself to get out of the house and I use to love to drive.
I hope things get better for You
Hugs

I've done everything that they have told us to do. I kept up with the exercise until I simply couldn't do it anymore. My last try was the aqua therapy and when I couldn't peel off my wet suit anymore that ended also. I tried the natural remedies and supplements, the guai.
I spent $16 K last year alone on treatments and physical therapy. Desperate to walk again.
Now I'm on the opiate route. And that helps to take the edge off so I can be somewhat functional. But it really doesn't get rid of the pain.
I never thought that my wonderful life would end up like this. :(
I am not bedridden, but I definitely have days when I can hardly move - today, for example - but my job being what it is, I HAVE to be here, even though there is absolutely NOTHING going on.
Warm, gentle hugs
ps - have you tried meditating to help with the emotional toll? If not, I HIGHLY recommend it. I am a novice, but would be happy to help you out if you need it - just let me know.
What meds are you taking and if they are not helping your pain enough to be functional, does your doctor know?
I went to an Internist...she gave me the Usual 6 prescripts...but Also gave me a referral to a Physical Therapist...I threw all the Prescripts away like I Always do...waited a bit...then in a Moment of desperation...called and made an appointment...
My Therapist talked to me about Alot of things...One thing he Did say...was that he would NOT be able to "Cure Me"...but he Promised me a better Place IF I could just Stick With him...and I did...and a few Crashes Later I Noticed some Results...soon I was Like WoW...I did Not Ever Think i could Feel this Great again...I ended up OVERDOING...and Crashed hard...wanted to Quit...he called me...talked me into staying at a "Maintence Level" til I got my strength back up...and so this is the way it has gone for me...when I feel Good...I work out a bit harder then when I crash...I go back to level one...I can tell you...sitiing here basically pain Free is something I NEVER Thought I would again Experience...I can Now walk 2 miles...where I could barely walk from my bed to the bathroom...I can Now go up and down steps several times {During laundry day}...and last Month I went thru a Cave with my Husband...climed 100 steps just to get to the cave...
Am I Cured ?? Nope...I am Not Even 50 percent back to where I used to be...but...I AM in a Much Better Place...
I cannot do a "Hot Tub"...makes me real sick and weak right away...not sure if it is the heat, or High Concentration of Chlorine in the water...but Hot tubs are out for me...sigh.
