do you avoid fears or face them?

Posted on 10/22/08, 07:13 pm
i usually went with the flow more when i lived in the city b/c i had no choice but to go to work and since it was a requirement, i would get through it easily. but now that i don't have to do anything i don't wanna do (i live on a mountain and my boyfriend works and lets me stay home), i find it much harder to force myself to get out. i am gonna start exposing myself more b/c i know this is the key to recovery. do you ever go out and face your fears? if so, how does it go for you, is it helping, how do you get through it, etc...

YEP me too Raggy :( I aviod and as the time goes on it makes it impossible for me to go back to the things that I avioded (know what I mean...I am rambling ) I went to the doc's so hopefully this will subside sometime with LOTS of work!! I am just sick adn tired of living this way. My Dr. says its social anxiety and explained to me what this was and it fits me to a T which is very odd cause I am a people person. I had anxiety as a child with many many panic attacks...went away years ago...now its back. I have to learn to take the weight off my shoulders and not worry so much (is what I am told) but how to you do that when your natural personality is a caretaker??? I dont know just one day at a time I guess!!!

i was so scared to go to walmart today. i was scared b/c it is about a 20 in drive, 40 in round trip and we had to get so many things. i almost told my boyfriend i wasn't going. i had been worrying about this trip for 2 days. i got in the car with my boyfriend and we started down the mountain we live on and i felt horrible but for once i tried to make myself feel better by talking to jeremy and focusing on songs an dreading a book and now i feel so great for going. i had fun and look forward to my next adventure. :)

Both. Depends on the circumstances. I do my best 1 day at a time. Sometimes my best is better than others.

Avoid like the plague. So scared when I face the real world, and yet at the same time want to get out.
