Homeopathy

I thought since I am now studying Homeopathy I would share brief over view of what exactly it is. Also, I noticed this form of "alternative" medicine hasnâ??t been addressed on our group.

One can say that homeopathy can do everything that orthodox medicine can do, and in certain circumstances, it can do even more.

Samuel Hahnemann, often called the founder of homeopathy, was put off by the medical practices of his day that consisted of bloodletting, purging, blistering and large doses of poisonous medicines. He soon abandoned such treatments in his practice. Instead he prescribed fresh air, exercise, and a nourishing diet. He also began experimenting with drugs, commonly taking the medicine himself and recording the effects.

The modern cornerstone for homeopathy is the Law of Similars which states that what a medicine in certain forms and doses can cause, is can also cure. Hahnemann influenced the development of homeopathic therapy and the treatment of the client as in individual. His ideas influenced the development of medicine, in not only the field of drug therapy, but also the emphasis on treating the client as an individual, and the importance of hygiene and diet.

In homeopathy it is believed that disease represents a disturbance in the body's ability to heal itself, and that only small stimulus is needed to start the healing process. Thus a small trace of a substance that is diluted several times over is used. It is said these small doses trigger the immune system to fight back rather than covering up the symptoms like conventional allopathic medicine.

Homeopathy was widely used and taught all over the world until about 20th century when advances in sciences and the attacks of organized medicine took place. Homepathy is still used in the Europe and India. In Britain, homeopathy has continued to flourish with the royal family's outspoken reliance which adds credibility and acceptance to this healing modality. In the United States homeopathy almost reached its demise, however, managed to quietly hang on until today now that people are infatuated with all things natural.

I'm on a homeopathy treatment that I just love!! I also know of several friends that are on treatments and responding quite well. With most of the treatments, it's great because they either work or they don't. No serious side effects or lawsuits to worry about.

Yes, thats what I like about homeopathy. No serious side effects and one treatment at a time. If one doesnt work you try another. Also its based on the whole patient not just their illness. Its so crazy that this branch of our history was almost lost due to political crap with the drug companies!

No Standard Operating Procedure is the way that I think a person's health should be handled. I have so many people that want to know what I do to feel better and I explain to all that my treatment is individual specific. Even though I have lupus and other diseases, I'm still different from other sufferers. To me, masking symptoms is no way to treat disease.
