  Many hugs to all of you. I left my husband a little over a year ago, and am glad I did it when I did. I tried to make my marriage work, but he really didn't want it to work. He became abusive about a week or two after we married. Violent verbal tirades, multiple putdowns, name calling, and swinging his fists near me, and hitting me at night when I was sleeping. It got worse and more frequent. I saw a counselor who advised me right away to get away from him as fast as I could. I just wasn't ready to give up. I stayed for me. I left when I was ready, and I do not regret staying, because I know I did all I could do to save my marriage. I look back on it and am glad that I tried. There was never, and never will be, any doubt in my mind that I did the right thing to leave him. If I had left sooner I might have looked back and asked what if I had stayed a little longer.... So, don't let anyone pressure you to leave if you feel it isn't the right time. Just be careful, and be safe.

  A big hug to all, some of whom will not know me, but I started this group. I thought we needed a space to decide what we WANTED to do without pressure and with nonjudgmental support and lots of encouragement and validation. I'm wishing you all well for 2009.

  I would like to reassure all the group members here that this is a safe group. A new member messaged me as she was worried about this matter. Abuse is not the way here and actually has never been a problem. We are here to help each other. Love you all, Hugs, Rosie

This group aims to gently help people decide about leaving or staying in their abusive relationship. This support covers whatever is needed to help the person be ready and able to go or stay; to actually make that decision and be confident it is the right one. The decision is a personal one and nobody can tell anyone what to do. We can only be with another person and help them sort out their thinking and feelings so they hopefully will know what to do, some time if not straight away.
