Earlier I told you I sometimes send my son jokes off the internet, as a way to lighten it up a little, maybe make him laugh a little instead of the daily family updates.
Today I copied all kinds of things to send to my crabby boyfriend who sits in a prison with nothing to do but feel bad, and angry.
I copied alot of stuff about NASCAR and his favorite, Tony Stewart. I made kind of his own magazine to read, since I cannot afford to send a subscription to him yet.
I also found things from the local newspaper that he would be interested, such as a "standoff" at a motel by where we live. In big cities this would be nothing abnormal. In these small towns, it highly rare.
I also found out about the sentence his roommate from county jail got.
My idea was to send him a brown big envelope full of stuff he would enjoy, keep him feeling connected to his old life, and give him some news about local stuff, and something he loves, and may not get to find out. i enclosed color pictures of race scenes, and more.
I hope he likes this, and I hope it makes him feel better.
For Christmas I felt so bad I couldn't give my son presents, so I sent an internet version of a family photo album. I scanned lots of pictures of his daughter's, and the rest of our family.
At his prison you can only have 20 real pictures to put up on the wall. These were just pictures on paper, like letters so he could keep that. Pages, and pages of the family who loves him. On the top when he opened it was a big blow up picture of his baby's face, and I put on it"Merry Christmas Daddy, I Love You"

For something for him to do, and to stay connected and feel we were doing something together, he would sit and make word search puzzles with words that had something to do with our life together. I would do it, and return it to him. Or, if they had cable, we would watch the same movie, kinda like we were watching it together, and talk about it later, or we would read the same books, and see who got done first, and discuss the book. Just a way to stay in tune. On a New Years Eve, we both watched Dick Clark's new years eve special, as long as they let him anyway, so we saw in the new year together -

I just love that idea. I'm going to get started on my husbands Christmas present right away. Not sure how much I can send at once, but will check into that. The prison he is at is very strict on mail. I can't copy from the internet anything that has copyright laws. I tried sending him puzzle games and they sent my letters back. I love the ideas from nowheregirl. When I watch a program on T.V. that I know my sweetie is watching, I always tell him "I love you". He does the same. It really helps to keep you connected. All the little funny items he would leave around the house, are in the same place he left them. He thinks that is cool. He is always with me, always. :-) -

I told my son a long time ago, that at 9pm every night when I know they have to go to their rooms, I say, Good night, Andy, I love you...he says to this day he remembers that. The idea is we both think of each other at the exact same time, says he says " Goodnight Mamacakes, love ya too" ( Oh dear, makes me cry tonight. Think I missed 9pm tonight. I was driving back from seeing his baby girl. -

Oh, I am now Sadgreeneyes, was Nowheregirl. I changed it because people in a prison were getting ahold of my journals and giving them to someone and causing trouble. They are doing it again, so what the heck, I am Both!! Hi everyone.
