Adding to my own personal experience with what foods/drinks and environmental triggers I avoided. Everyone is different, no two people alike will have the same problem. I suggest a small notebook to record what one eats/drinks to do well:
Soy
Hormones red meats (free-range is best)
Hormones chicken (free-range is better)
Red #3 (contains Iodine)
Iodine
Seafood (Tuna and Salmon were ok)
Powdered sugar (raw cane is ok)
MSG
Aspartame
Alcohol
GMO Peanuts (GMO-free is ok)
GMO foods I had problems with (changes the DNA)
Excess chocolate (Hershey's plain is ok)
High Fructose Corn Syrup and other corn chemicals are a no no
Excess caffeine
I avoided boxed and processed foods/drinks as much as I could. Some cans (if organic) are okay for me to use. I do not drink any soda pops.
I avoid being around cigarette smoke as much as possible. I have multiple chemical sensitivities which will trigger my symptoms. Some things include perfume, new tires, roof tars, gasoline, etc.
Coffee, I drink if drink half regular and half decaf. I used raw can sugar and used half and half that is free of rBGH.
Hope everyone gets an idea of the partial list I provided here with what kind of issues I had due to the autoiummune diseases I have. Avoiding or limiting as much as I possible I was able to keep thyroid levels and other symptoms from other AID at bay.
Also kept the antibodies as low as possible to avoid by taking the LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone).
So I'm really new at this but am really confused about the Goitrogens. I swear one web site says to eat them and another says to stay away from them. Also, not to complain but a lot of the info is for hypO and not hypER. It also looks like some of the websites assume RAI is used immediately but very little info for those on ATDs. Am I looking for the wrong thing? One last thing - gluten? What is the connection, again I've seen eat and stay away from. Why does this have to be so confusing??
