my garden

i once had a garden outside, the soil when it was turned over and tilled was rich and dark, almost black. The smell of the soil was wonderful, it smelled like life itself.

i planted my high growing things like pole beans in the center rows, and depending on the height of the is where i planted my seed so they would get the optimum sun.

on the four corners of my garden i planted vine type plants, like squash and zucchini and cantaloupe.

it wasn't a huge garden but it yielded a bumper crop and i loved eating fresh okra, tomatoes, beans and the rest. this was before i couldn't garden anymore due to health problems.

now i have garden inside of plants that i love and the dirt when watered still smells rich like life. my purple passion with it's soft velvet purple leaves, my angel wings (or elephant ears but that's not so poetic lol) my palm that has grown a really crooked trunk, and my other plants are special to me.

i may try my hand at herbs for cooking. i have a room with an eastern and southern exposer windows that i can pretty much do what i want with. i have never grown herbs before so if anyone can give me pointers i would be grateful.

Mostly herbs to better outside. But you could try basil, chives and coriander inside.

Also have you thought of growing / sprouting shoots, - you can grow red cabbage sprouts and eat in salads also water cress and ordinary cress.

    Enjoy x Bea
