GENESIS. IT'S AT THE BEGINNING AND IMO, IT'S THE BEST STORY BOOK IN OLD TESTAMENT.
I'VE ONLY READ THE OLD TESTAMENT ONCE...AND THAT WAS JUST TO SAY THAT I HAVE READ THE "WHOLE" BIBLE.

Where to Start?

As someone with epilepsy, my memory has never been good. Although I've been a believer for 20 or so years, I've been put to shame by how little I know about the Old Testament. I'd like to learn more but how/where do I start?

Yeah Genesis is a good place to start or I personally like Proverbs and Ruth.
1 Samuel and 2 Samuel are also interesting.
The the "minor" prophets at the end after Daniel are interesting...like Jonah and the big fish. -

been put to shame by whom?
Ought we to be proud of our scholarly knowledge of the book, and lose the spirit of what it means to be in Christ.
If you read, and meditate on scripture, it isn't of such concern that you quote chapter and verse. That is something that people do to prove themselves, not God. God proves himself through you by making His spirit alive within you, so that your acts and deeds will reflect the love of the one whom you call savior and Lord. Don't let the scholarly aspect of this worldly religious quest shadow the deeper purity of why you are a Christian in the first place.
Love God. Live as One who loves God. People will want the peace that you will exude... that they are so desperate for... and you simply give GOd the glory. Souls aren't won through the intellect. THey are won through the heart. God will use you. Prioritize.
Mind you, I'm not saying that you shouldn't indeed read the old testament. Great stuff there, indeed. But whomever you believe is putting you to shame... their pride will be their downfall. Don't aspire to their priorities. Know your God. Ask Him to make His word come alive in you. And then share that through how you live, not just how you debate.
Welcome
