Poem

Hi,

This is a poem that I found on another support group that I belong to, and thought I'd share with you. I have permission from the writer to post it here.

She has seen a lot of sunrises over the past few months of not sleeping. It occured to her that when the sun rises it does so with quiet majesty, first lightening the night sky a touch before sending out a red and orange warning. Finally it peeps over the top of the Troodos mountains and almost sings its way into the sky, throwing its pink and golden rays out, out into the blue. It is an awesome sight, and brings with it the promise of a new day, a new start. We can't always see that when we are not well, but not once over these months has she failed to acknowledge the magic of sunrise.

It occured to her (and probably to many of us)that if she were to carry out some of her thoughts she would never see another sunrise. So the best thing anyone could ever wish her is `may the sun always rise for you.'

I wish it for you all out there in bipolarland.

I am not a poet, but this is a simple rhyme -

When rainclouds come to blot your skies with grey,
And your heart is heavy as you trudge through your day.
When there is no light in the night of your soul
And you struggle to find a way to be whole.
My wish for you when you're feeling blue
Is, May the sun always rise for you.

When you're flying the skies on your manic highs
And you're feeling so wonderfully alive and wise.
When confusion and doubt start to creep in
And your confidence fades to incredibly thin.
My wish for you when you don't know what to do
Is, May the sun always rise for you.

As he starts to rise and paint the skies blue
His beams reach out in a rosy hue
And reds and oranges burst into view,
This is a new day, and it's there just for you.
It could be the start of something brand new
So, May the sun always rise for you.

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did when I read it. I don't have bipolar but my wife has Rapid Cycling and this poem hit it home to me.

Cath
