Early Life Emotional Trauma Risk Factor for ME/CFS

A study published by authors at Emory University and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that early life emotional trauma is a risk factor for CFS. The Archives of General Psychiatry study by Christine Heim, et al, repeats an earlier study published in the same journal in November 2006. Although the patients evaluated this time were selected from a community-based sample in Georgia, the new study is subject to the same flaws as the first study of Wichita CFS patients. For a review of the earlier study, please visit http://www.cfids.org/cfidslink/2006/stress.asp. Media coverage of this paper has been brisk, but several stories point out that CFS has viral and immune triggers as well.
**The above news thankfully comes from the newscenter at www.cfids.org/ which is the official website of the Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS) Association of America
