Tramadol? non opiods?

Posted on 05/16/09, 05:04 pm
Hi I am newly diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid arthritis. My dr doesnt want to try lyrica or any other drug right now as were still trying to get on top of my RA. I have been bed ridden for alomst an entire week now from the pain and lortab doesnt work at all. I have tried to do some research and was wondering if anyone has tried tramadol? does it work? are there any other non-opiods that work? I just want to try to get on top of the pain so that I can function.

Thanks!

I take tramadol and it works well for me but I also take high doses of Lyrica. All of my meds take the sring out of my pain but nothing takes away the pain. Good luck.

tramadol is not as strong as a lortab, tramadol is generic for ultram
I used to take tramadol & lyrica too, but after being on them a bout 4 yrs, I became ammuned to tramadol. it wasn't helping the pain at all,
my doc didn't know what to do so she sent me to a physical therapist,
he put me on amitryptolin 50 mg's it has helped me at night.
he has also put through aqua therapy which made me hurt worse for awhile but it was worth it because the water therapy has helped alot.
but I almost quit it was so painful, but a friend encouraged me to keep doing it which I am even after insurance stopped paying for it.
my wife & I do it together but these past 3 weeks we didn't have the time to go. dangomighty we were in serious pain because we stopped the therapy, a couple days ago we finaly made it there , we felt alot betterthat same day. we still hurt some doing therapy 2 times a week but not as bad as we would without it. I am on flexeril now also for my daytime pains. my wife has fibro too, she is on tramadol.

tramadol works for me but am also on lyrica, its really just trial and error to see what works for yourself. but i would certainly say it would be worth a try to help relieve the pain, it doesnt take the pain away but certainly reduces it. hope this helps x

I took tramadol and my blood pressure went haywire. By the time I figured it out, I was a mess. I'm allergic to opiates so I use Boswellia for the chronic pain and 800 mg. Ibuprofen for extra pain.

When bedridden, it's hard to move but try to at least do some breathing exercises. You can find basic yoga breathing techniques on google.

I also make it a point to raise my hands over my head at least once a day.

Ultram makes me vomit. I am on Cymbalta, Lyrica and 10/325 Vicodin thank the Lord. I cannot function without - I also take ibuprophen as well to help - am undergoing dry needling since all these years I thought i had only fibro but have learned i have terrible Myfascial Pain Syndrome - which explains why my muscles have been described as concrete and steel rods and did not respond to all other therapies. Maybe you need a higher does of Lortab - 10/325 is the same as 2 5/500 but with much less Tylenol so it is safer.

Welcome
