Just want to share my experience

I was once a member on DS..and have had depression and anxiety for well over 20 years. initially i turned to DS for support with my mental health issues...therapy,councelling and many different types of medication down the years have had very little longterm effect. I could ramble on and on about how bad things got for me,but I dont want to...I've done plenty of the negative crap over the years. So how did i manage to get myself off the depression merry-go-round ? I visited my GP and asked for a general health check after i hit the BIG 40...everything was ok apart from my cholesterol level which were abnormally high....my GP suggested that i may have to start taking statins for the rest of my life in order to keep my cholesterol in check,she also told me about a scheme at my local health club for people with health issues...Exercise on prescription !!!! it was the kick up the ass i needed to break my depression..I had no choice but to do something about it.
Now i know when you are depressed and suffer with anxiety...the last place you want to go to is a gym!!!! I had to force myself to go and i can honestly say it's the best thing thats happened to me in years...I'm now 6months down the line,medication free,in better shape physically and mentally. If anybody would have told me a year or so back i would be where i am now...i would not have believed them for a second... I really have changed in every possible way...all for the better !!!
If anybody reads this and is finding it tough to keep motivated right now....all i can really say is never give up hope..things can change for the better...we all have it in us to make positive changes in our lives and sometimes change happens when we least expect it.
