IF I EVER GET SO LUCKY AS TO GET MORE VENISON THAN I KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH, I WILL DONATE ALSO!! WE HAVE A BUTCHER SHOP THAT WILL DO THE DEER (PROCESS) AND DONATE IT TO HUNTERS SHARING THE HARVEST. THAT IS A GREAT IDEA. I ALSO THINK THEY (THE WILDLIFE COMMISSION WHO OVERSEES HUNTIMG) SHOULD PERMIT DESIGNATED ZONES FOR ARCHERY HUNTING IN SAID LANDS TO CONTROL THE POPULATION AND THE SPREAD OF DISEASE.
UNCLE TED SAYS IT ALL!!!! HE NOT ONLY HAS PASSION(AS WE ALL SHOULD) FOR OUR GREAT OUTDOORS, HE ALSO KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO AN OVERPOPULATION OF ANIMALS. IF YOU`VE NEVER EXPIERENCED IT FIRSTHAND, NATURE IS CRUEL WHEN IT CAN`T SUPPORT THE ANIMAL POPULATION. STARVATION AND SICKNESS ARE NOT NICE.

A different take from Ted Nugent... A friend of mine has hunted on the preserves of Ted Nugent (and no, I don't know how you get to do that...), but mainly, from his mouth the logic is so solid... Hmmm.... Here in cow county Ohio, our hunters have donated over 17,000 deer to food pantries since that program started around 2002. Local hunters donate the meat to butchers who donate the processing and hundreds of families get fresh meat on their tables. I like that concept!
Further, when I lived up northeast in Ohio, our county (Summit) has the largest number of deer related accidents in the state. Why??? No hunting too close to residential and all of the wild lands between Cleveland and Akron have been designated as National Park. Yeah, again, no hunting allowed...
Seems to me we could strike a happy medium somewhere... What do you all think??? Anyway, listen to the logic first hand from Ted!

Curiously Dave, I just read an article in my Farm and Dairy TODAY about the fact that Ohio's whitetail population was nearly totally gone at the turn of the 20th century... We have come so far in that last 100 years in this state. The only scary thing is I wonder if we are now being too conservative in controller our deer population... Certainly, we have tons and tons and tons of deer in Cow Country, but we also have too many in urban and national park areas...
It is so hard to strike that delicate balance! Already, I meditate on a successful hunt this winter... We did not get so lucky last year, and I missed the meat! xo Cj
