Our Little Girl is Here

She arrived a week ahead of schedule. At 3 am on October 1st, I got up to use the bathroom and before I had the chance to get back to bed, I felt a strong flow of liquid. Needless to say, my water broke. It was hilarious recalling what I did next. Hubby and I didn't know if we were supposed to phone the doctor or go to the hospital. My first reaction was to pick up the book What to Expect When You're Expecting and started looking for "Water Broke". How dorky is that?! LOL! Hubby said to forget the book and we should go to the hospital. I was already 4 cm by the time we got there and didn't really feel any labor contractions so I was realy lucky. I had the epidural even before the potosin (sp?) kicked in to dilate me to 10 cm. I was even calling co-workers while at the labor room to cancel my meetings (another dorky move I know). It took a while before I was finally able to start pushing but when she came out, her cry was the most wonderful sound I've ever heard. I had some hemorraging (sp?) after delivery and by the time I know it, the room was full of doctors, nurses and anesthesiologist tugging and pulling me every which way. Hubby was there the whole time. I can't even begin to imagine what he felt seeing our little girl and then looking out to the other side of the room where there's a lot of action going on for me. In the end, it was all ok though. I recovered pretty quickly and did not have to stay in the hospital longer than the 2 day required for vaginal birth. All's well that ends well. Oh yeah, she measured 7 lbs 10 oz at birth.
