I thought female dogs are supposed to be more submissive, less likely to bite? When I think about it, the only dog I owned that actually bit someone was a male. Most of the dogs I've own, (about13 dogs over the years) have been gentle females. On the other hand, I've known lots of gentle males, and many feisty females.
