I've looked in to it and considered it but then never did it...lol. Actually you pay for the services at the vets and then send the receipts to the insurance company who then reimburse you a certain amount, depending on what was done at the vets. It seemed like a headache to me and i didn't know if it would be worth it in the long run.

If anyone else has tried it and found it to be helpful then please say so, because then I might change my mind...lol!!

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
    Hugs, Donna

I'd never had pet insurance until I got my latest dog. For what I paid in, and what money they reimbursed me, I didn't feel it was worth it. When my dog turned one, I canceled the insurance. When she was almost three, she began to have vision problems. The vet bills (I have to take her to a veterinary ophthalmologist), and medications for my dog are huge. I couldn't believe that I had canceled the policy, and then she began to lose her sight. So I decided to torture myself by looking up what I would have saved had I kept the insurance. It was then that I saw that no insurance company will cover her condition. If you decide to buy pet insurance, make sure you check the policy closely. There are conditions which are not covered. Ultimately, it's a gamble. I've made my decision not buy it again, though.

I would get pet insurance as any vet fees are high for the slightest thing. My dog is now 12 and the insurance is £30 a month. I know this is high but shes worth it.

I am in fvolved, heavily so, in animal rescue, so it may be that the numbers we have are such that we cannot afford coverage for multiple dogs. But it has been my, and many of my fellow dog lovers and rescuers experinece, that the cost, does not justify the results. Most do not cover the standard vet expenses, and for those that are coverd, most have limits and or loop holes. So my advice, if you are considering it, check out all the policies available and read all of the fine prrint. Most that I know do what we can to put what the monthly premiums would be into a vet health need fund. There are always exceptions, so in the long run it is the individiul decsions. Like human policies, there are also max life time benefits so with something ongong and serious the insurance runs out.
