ART THERAPY

Posted on 03/07/09, 08:43 pm
How many of you believe in Art Therapy? I love to paint...but to me, there's nothing compared to a good museum or the DIA. (Detroit Institute of Arts).

Do you really think it can help us mentally to relinquish some of our stresses and make life more enjoyable and productive?

Barb, I truly believe in Art therapy and other forms of therapy. Anything that helps us express our emotions that we normally keep bottled up inside of us. I have different therapies that I use for different emotions. I dont feel much like painting or quilting while I am depressed, so I draw, exercise and write. Writing and exercise are good for me when angry or frustrated also. Honestly, if I painted while angry, God only knows what might happen, LOL. It could be a huge black mess on the canvas or maybe red.

I believe that when we create anything, we feel more productive. Especially as women being very emotional, it is important for us to identify with the talents we have within us. Hugs

Remember Shelly, VanGogh painted his best work when depressed. :) You never know what kind of masterpiece you'll come up with. Barb-Detroit

hi, i started to go to art classes - one evening a week. Something i always used to enjoy when i was a youngster and gave up when i left school. It got me out meeting new people, lets me do something completely unrelated to my work and makes me feel good when i produce something im proud off. Only thing i need to do is learn how to paint when i am really stressed or anxious. My mind just shuts down to the creativity. And last thing to remember about your art, if you like it its good and dont let anyone else tell u any different.

I used to like drawing and painting but I have not done so in a long time. My son is good at art, better than I ever was.

I find that writing poetry from time to time helps me. I also like to improvise music and songs with my son on his keyboard we play duets and it is all completely original stuff.

I have decided to go to the local school that Maya attends. I am asking the art teacher to have a contest for the kids to make art pictures for my new CANDY SHOP. YEAH!!!!! I will post their photos in my new shop. It's called SHORELINE SWEETS-PENNY CANDY AND NOVELTIES.

Wish me luck. Love and Peace to you all. Thanks for all of your responses.
