Hello all,

I just discovered this group today and I'm so glad it exists! Anyone have any advice on how to get started?

    Hi! Welcome to the group! I'm not sure what you mean about getting started. If you are talking about healing, just look for lots of information on the web so that you are knowledgeable. Don't try to invalidate your feelings, and just generally try to be good to yourself. Some people refer to this as mothering yourself.

    Honestly, this group isn't active very much anymore, but I think most of us are at least still on DS. So if you want to chat with any of us and no one answers the message board, I'm sure no one would mind receiving a message from you! We are all pretty supportive here.

For those of us whose mothers were (or still are) abusive to us. In a society that puts mothers on a pedestal it can often be lonely dealing with the feelings of hurt, betrayal, anger, emptiness and grief of having an abusive mother. People with loving mothers often find it hard to believe or understand. Here is a safe place to express the feelings and find others with similar experiences and support each other.
