have to go to college without my daddy
Posted on 08/08/09, 01:32 pm
he died 5 years ago. and i've had to turn 16 without him..and turn 18 without him...graduate highschool without him...and now i have to go to college without him. it hurts. all i want to do is cry...i almost don't want to because of it.
i'll be in a new place...with new ppl...feeling more alone than ever. i'll be among tons of new ppl who don't understand.
i have to have a room mate. she probably has a dad. he'll probably help her move in. and she probably wont understand when i'm sad or why i'm sad.

I am so sorry. It is just so hard. You made me cry b/c I know that your dad is so so proud of you and will be with you when you are carrying in those boxes. Probably telling you to be carefull! I miss my dad so much too. Know you are not alone with this pain. I hope your dad sends a wonderful friend your way in school! -

adizzle, I know how you feel. My dad passed away almost 4 years ago and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of him..You may be suprised of others there at college that are going through the same thing. It is hard when you see others with there dads. I have to focus on all the good times with my dad an even look at pictures. Hang in there, God will get you through. Just know that your not alone on this journey!! God Bless! -

My dad died when i was 13 so I know what you mean. Learning to drive without him and graduating without him were the hardest so far. -

I just started my freshman year in college too. Everything is so hard. My roommate and all my friends have dads. He missed middle school, graduation, and the college I'm going to was his college. I know how you're feeling exactly. <3 -

totally kelsey. i actually haven't made many friends. i thought a couple of ppl were but they turned out to be mean. but making friends is so much harder because i'll always feel separate and different from everyone else. :( -

I agree, it is hard to make friends. Like yesterday, I was eating lunch with a girl who's grandma died and she was talking about it like it was the worst thing in the world. Losing your grandma sucks. But that is no where near what it's like to lose a parent. I guess we need to look at our similarities instead of focusing on this huge gaping hole that seperates us from our peers..but it is so hard.
