proper glue question....????

Posted on 10/18/09, 10:12 am
Last year I wanted to 'glitter up' my adorable christmas cards. I had pretty diamond dust and used the all purpose tacky craft glue because it dried clear. All I ended up doing was detracting from the appearance of my cards: the glitter was so fine that it didn't sparkle as much as I wanted and the places I put on the glue wet and warped the card itself.
I'm not one to give up so I'm already cooking up ideas for my animal shelter cards but don't want to use the same glue or glitter....so I was wondering if people here have any advice for me? I'm thinking about adding little wooden snowflakes and some miniature dog bones with tiny bows (I have a feeling I won't be able to fultill that idea). Last year the cards I bought had little wooden scottie dogs on the card and not only did I get raves but found personally that many people put the card on their refrigerator for the entire year! I'm really hepped up on pulling this off this year. I guess I'm just a kid at heart!!

Well, lets see if I can help, at our WalMart we can buy glue dots that come on a roll in different sizes, they work well to attach things to cards, they are thin. They are about $4.oo a roll, like 200 on a roll. There are some with the name brand of Zots also. I bought some paper clips shaped like dog bones at WalMart also in the office supply section.

Glitter, wonderful glitter, esp. the ulta fine, there are glue pads that you can purchase esp for glitter, they are a bit pricey about $9.00. You did not say are you stamping on the cards? There is a paper it is double sided sticky comes in different sizes, holds glitter well. You cut out or punch the shape you want glittered. Peel off the pink, sticky side now bear, dip it in the glitter, now peel off the pink back and stick to paper. If you go to a craft store, esp if there are scrapping supplies you can ask them specifically, they may even give you a demo, if you take your glitter in. It is really difficult to glitter large areas and have them turn out perfect.

Thank you so much...looks like another happy trip to Walmart to pick up the supplies! I hope I come across those dog bone clips, also! Using stickies for the glue is really a great way to override the wetness damage with regular glue.

Last evening on Jay Leno Martha Stewart was glittering like mad. Her company makes a glue glitter, I saw it at Meijers today.
