Hi everyone! I've been taking Topamax for a year,25-100 mg. a day. I can't tolerate the weird side effects above that. I know it's working, but I am really struggling with memory, finding words. Anyone else have this problem? I have also noticed that my hair has been falling out. My dr. says that doesn't happen w/ Topamax, but I don't know what else it could be. Anyone else ever experience that side effect?

Topamax Warning! I don't get migraines anymore. Used to have them daily - projectile severe vomiting 50 to 60 times a day. I was put on 200mg Tompamax and warned it had short term memory affects. At the time, I was extremely sick with a multitude of illnesses, and I could always remember what I did the day before, so I figured I was okay. After 5 years, I began to wonder why I was taking so much, and cut down to 100mg. Still no migraines. Cut to 50 mg, then 25mg, Still no migraines. Finally stopped, no migraines for 3 years. I took some pain killers one day for an unrelated item - instant migraine and throwing up. I used an old Imitrex inhaler to get it under control. Since that time, I have had 3 more migraines, all related to taking strong pain killers on an empty or not full stomach. So please look for unrelated issues for migraines.
Oh yes, the warning! I have NO memories of those 5 years. I read my journals, I don't remember anything that happen, who wrote the entries, or anything I read during that time - although the memories before and after are back. Very dangerous drug, but I guess at the time, I needed it.
