My little vent
Posted on 07/03/09, 10:17 pm
So, I decided that I needed to get out of the house more because I'm feeling isolated here. I told my husband I would start going grocery shopping with him because that is about all we can do right now on our budget. The grocery store and running errands are about it for us.
We went to our local warehouse style grocery store that opened a year ago. Its one of those "bag your own" type stores and the prices are wonderful. Problem is the place is always packed. 15 isles open, all with clerks, and lines at each one. Its huge and wonderful and full of life, so I love going there to get in touch with the world, so to speak.
Problem is, there are never any open disabled parking places and they only have two disabled carts working every time I'm there. I have to decide between my manual wheelchair (VA won't let me have a motorized one unless I'm an amputee) and my cane. Since I don't want my husband to push me all that way, and because my arms will hurt like crazy for days afterwords if I wheel myself, I go with my cane and by the time I'm done, I'm in misery.
I finally got irritated enough today to write a letter and complain. With all the business they make, they should be able to provide better service to the disabled customers they have. Every time I go, I see disabled people waiting at the front of the store for a cart. Sitting on an uncomfortable bench.
Sorry for the long winded post. But I needed to vent.LOL
