Winning Souls to Christ

Posted on 11/02/09, 08:20 pm
Today, I was at the local nursing home that I visit every week. I have a special friend there. He is 95 years old. I met him a couple of years ago and we started talking. Our friendship grew and I sensed this old man was not saved. He had never been married. He had no-one but a sister left in his family. I would go into his room and talk to him about World War 2 and He told me many stories about where he had been, etc. We became great friends and I was priviledged to lead this old man to Christ. This old man died today, while I was visiting at the nursing home. I had just been in his room and he was unresponsive but, seemed to just be sleeping. I said a prayer for him and before I left his room, something stopped me and I turned and took him by the toe and said "Lord, let him go in peace". 5 minutes later, he was with the Lord.

What amazes me is that there were many ministers who have been there at that nursing home over the last couple of years and no-one ever tried to win this old man to Christ.

We as Christians and Ministers must get serious about winning people to
Christ and be concerned about lost people. How many people get saved at 95 years old, like "Short" did. very few I would think.

Short told a lot of people that he had got saved and he couldn't talk about it without getting tears in his eyes. He said to me, "I've never met a preacher like you". I will miss my old friend but, I know he is at peace now and in no more pain. When I have a friend pass away, it just makes me want to be more bold and to witness more to others about the saving power of Christ. We as Christians are to be soul winners. Some people think that only the preacher should win souls. May all of us be the souls winners we should be and may all the Glory and Honor go to Christ to purchased salvation for all who will trust Him as Saviour.

I meant to say May all the Glory and Honor go to Christ who purchased salvation for all who will trust Him as Saviour. (I had the word to instead of who)

Welcome

This is a room from the Christian Church 24/7 Ministry set up for fellowship. Here we can have good clean fun and share our burdens too. The Bible says we need to rejoice with them who rejoice and weep with them that weep. This is our room to do both.
