    Bridges (08/14/10)

8/14/10: Important Notice To all who come to check out or join this group: The founder of this group (K92607) and the backup moderator (Bridges) are currently unable to monitor this site for traffic and respond on a regular basis to new posts due to the current health status of our PD parents. To add to the mix, two of the charter members have lost their parents, so they no longer participate here. We invite you to look around this group and glean information from it, and to take note of the individual members and message them here at DS. They will respond if they are able. You are also most welcome to add new posts, as some of the new members like SandHarbor3 have stepped up to the plate and are participating in discussions here. Please also check out the regular Parkinson's group, as they have been most accepting of us and very kind and helpful, as have the Aging Parents group and the Dementia group. (If I'm leaving anyone out, my apologies--I can't remember all of them right now.) This is not an easy road, but you will meet wonderful people along the way, who will help you and guide you and refresh you when you are weary and scared. They are here at DS. They are outside DS, like the nurse who tells your mother she has been taking excellent care of her husband. Or the neurologist who gives you a hug. Or the perky little CNA in the hospital who is so deft and cheerful she can chat smilingly and feed a weak, helpless old man and get him to swallow his dinner when 6 hours before he was gagging and choking when someone ELSE tried to feed him. Hang in there, fellow warriors. Be brave, and steadfast, and be kind to yourself, knowing you are doing everything possible to help your dear loved ones. Take good care of yourselves and of them, Bridges

Welcome to the new members of our group. Not much going on here over the past few months with everyone having a lot going on in their lives. This little group has some really amazing members. If you ever need anything please post it and one of us will be around as soon as we possibly can. Hopefully life will start to slow down a bit for everyone soon. HUGE HUGS TO ALL OF MY WONDERFUL AND SUPPORTIVE FRIENDS!

Hello, everyone! All of us old timers seem to be falling by the wayside as we juggle our family responsibilities with our jobs. Just wanted to let the newbies know if they ever want to message us directly we will be there in a flash! We have made some good friends here and it has been very nourishing--especially those times when I've felt like no one else in the world understood. Again, just wanted to give a shout out to everyone and order up a group hug!

Here's to our amazing group! In spite of all the ups and downs life has thrown our way, we have much to be thankful for--including each other. I say we have Pounder order up some of those amazing pies she's always writing about and treat ourselves this Thanksgiving. I hear they even make the kind with 0 carbs and 0 calories, eh Pounder? LOL

Everyone's been going through some stressful times lately. I just wanted to say that I am glad we have each other. People on the outside are sympathetic, but they don't really understand. In spite of your own troubles, you are always there to lend an ear, a shoulder to cry on, a tip, research help, a word of wisdom, or a word of encouragement. Thank you so much!

My Mom has PD and I am her sole caregiver. I am here seeking support, advice, new treatment options, information and I thought this might help all of us "kids" who are looking to help their parent and themselves as this is a joint journey to some extent.
