A Halloween Warning

Posted on 10/29/09, 10:40 am
As cat lovers we've probably heard all this before but it bears repeating anyway. If you have cats (especially BLACK cats) Halloween is not a safe time for them. People with less than kind intentions will steal cats (again especially black ones)and they will never be seen again. PLEASE keep your cats INside for the weekend (whether they like it or not) where you can keep an eye on them and keep those nasty people from taking them.
Most shelters will not adopt out black cats during Halloween because too many fall into unfriendly hands. Some shelters extend this to all cats. Some others won't adopt out any animals.
So please be careful with your furry friends this weekend.

Thanks for the warning. My two black cats are indoor cats anyways and will be with me. It is terrible how some of these people can be towards animals on Hallow's eve especially black cats.

Me too. I have two black cats and they're not allowed out. Zenobia walks on a leash so she can go out safely (with me). I remember about 30 years ago after Halloween I was riding my horse in the woods and found a decapitated black rabbit in the woods near a campfire. Something evil happened there. Never found out who was responsible but there was something sick going on.

well today I found out there is a friendly lil black male cat by the name of Murphy who came across the street (against his owner's wishes) to meet my gang who were outside enjoying the sunshine..he ran right out in front of a slow moving car (thankfully) I told her to keep close tabs on Mr Murphy..especially now..

My cat went missing a couple of days before Halloween.. He still hasn't been home. I am afraid something really bad happened to him. =(

I hope not. Cats do wander sometimes. Try checking with neighbors and the local shelters and see if anyone has seen him. Good luck.
