kitten rescue

Hi, I just wanted to share with fellow cat lovers. I went to a place about 2 weeks ago, a man turned up carrying a garbage bag. It turned out there was a kitten in it, and he said it'd been in there for 9 hours. I was so horrified, and got the kitten out. it was wet and totally traumatised, only about 7 weeks old. I nursed it for hours, it took an hour to stop shivering. The man wasn't deliberately cruel, he's got something wrong mentally, and the kitten was a stray he wanted to bring it along to find a home for it. anyway, the kitten ended up purring loudly as I nursed it. I took it home for the night - i've got 3 cats, so I kept kitten in a separate room with plenty of food and milk. the next day, I rang a friend who'd been looking for a kitten, and she wanted it. So I took the kitten to her, calling it 'Lucky'. Well, that was 2 weeks ago. I visited my friend tonight, and Lucky (a girl) is so happy, with a full tummy, and playing like mad. My friend has another female cat who was hissing at first, but now likes the kitten.
The man who brought the kitten in a garbage bag, said there was another stray kitten where he lives. The mother cat had been caught and sent off 3 weeks earlier. So, I rang a mad cat lady I know. She went and caught the other kitten, and is now nursing it carefully at her place. it's a boy, she called him 'Smoky Joe'. he's very pretty, so she's going to find a home for him.
I know there's lots of suffering animals in this world, but I feel happy about these two little kittens, it ended well for them.

I am so glad that the man felt safe enough to bring the kitten to you and that you would know what to do with it! You must be a very special person to those in need! Sounds like you have done a WONDERFUL job!

Some years ago my wife found a very small, very sick kitten in a puddle of water, We nursed him back and these days he likes to leap onto the older, larger, very tolerant cat.

Just an update. The first kitten, who was in the garbage bag, is very happy. she plays all the time, gets on great with the other cat, and is growing. I just visited her tonight. And the other kitten, who my friend rescued, has found a good home with a good family.
