Am I bi- polar or am I me with bp?

I'm having difficulty distinguishing between these ideas: am I bi-polar or am I a person WITH bi-polar. I feel eaten up by this disease.

You are a person who has bi-polar, everybody is different and so are bi-polar sufferers. The best advice I can give is to try and control your bi-polar and don't let it control you and the best way to explain this is that you lean to recognise thoughts and feelings that aren't within the norm. Don't let yourself go with your emotions analyse them 1st. -

I think of myself as bipolar the same way I think of myself as diabetic. They're both important parts of who I am but in no way are they ALL, or even most, of who I am. I'm also a student and a spouse, a patient and cat-owned (since no one actually owns a cat). What labels you choose to accept are entirely up to you. You may find that under some circumstances you're more comfortable being bipolar, while in others you may feel better about having bipolar disorder - and at other times you're allowed to forget the labels altogether. More important than any of that, you're you and that's really the only thing you need to remember.

We are all different. Bipolar doesn't define us. -
