Dissappointment...
Posted on 05/22/08, 10:44 am
Okay, so I went to the gym last night. I decided to weigh myself even though I hadn't gotten on the scale in 10 days. In that 10 days I managed to exercise or lift weights every day... maintain my caloric intake to 1400-1500 calories... quit drinking pepsi and limited my beer to two a week... and anything else I could possibly think of to be healthy. I guess down deep I was hoping for some kind of progress (or miracle). But it didn't happen... I "lost" 0.4 pounds. If it had even been a full pound I would be okay... but 0.4 pounds???
Hubby is telling me to keep my chin up and keep working out. I donâ??t intend to stop but damnâ?¦ that stinks.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Try not to get discouraged. Keep doing what you are doing. You are completely on the right track, and your hard work will start paying off. Maybe not on the timetable you'd like, but it will pay off. -

there are a lot of factors that go into weighing, maybe you are not thinking of other reasons...it could be a different time of day (I am always a few pounds heavier in the pm), bloating, different clothes, or even a different scale. I'm sure you've heard these things before. I'm just sayin, be fair to yourself....and if something's not working, try a new workout or diet or keep mixing it up, you will get there if you stay focused
i did "The Sonoma Diet" recently before a wedding and I lost about 8 pounds in 2 weeks with moderate to light exercise. Unfortunately, i fell off the wagon right after the wedding and now I am right back where i started, so i am with you in the dissapointment dept. Sonoma works, but I felt it was kind of restrictive- the good thing was carbs were okay as long as it was whole grain. -

You know what occurs to me? You are working out and have probably put on muscle. So you may just have lost fat and added muscle, which will in turn burn more fat. Chin up lady! Even 0.4 lost is 0.4 lost! : ) -

New here, but recognize some of my friends from the smoking addiction site.
Great news Steeler. Muscle does weigh more than fat. You are probably slimmer.
At least you did not gain. Look at the positive. You are doing great.
Maybe, you could take your measurements, and keep track of inches lost.
This might keep your incentive up? Good luck!
